Research activity
The main research field of the Department is heterocyclic chemistry including
-
synthesis, chemical, physico-chemical properties and theoretical aspects of potentially bioactive nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds,
-
methodological studies on and applications of organometallic chemistry, ring closure reactions for the synthesis of polycyclic compounds,
-
medicinal chemistry of cardiovascular and central nervous systems (antiarrhythmic agents, compounds effecting on NMDA-receptor system, respectively), G-protein coupled cationic neurotransmitter receptors, semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase inhibitors,
-
isolation, structure determination and chemical transformation of natural products, in particular iridoids,
-
design of bioactive compounds by 3D QSAR and neural network,
-
studies of ADME properties by computational methods,
-
aspects of computational chemistry.
